This website is not trying to sell you anything! It gives you an insight into the very important examination, called the MRCP(UK) examination. This "MRCP guide" is intended as a one-stop guide to your success. There's only essential information about the exam here, and all the information is totally free. Hopefully, from here you can go about putting together a strategy for passing this exam. But, most crucially, we wish you to take maximum advantage of cultural interests outside of medicine. It's very easy in fact to underestimate totally the exam, which is currently in three parts. Many junior doctors, having passed their undergraduate medical examinations and especially if they have graduated from the UK, misjudge badly the exam. This can either be in the written papers, MRCP(UK) Part 1 and MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written, which are very difficult theory tests of general medicine. However, there is sadly no excuse at all for failing it, as the syllabus is clearly published, and there are plenty of books and courses to help you pass. Furthermore, many doctors fail to understand how the clinical examination MRCP(UK) PACES works. Even if you pass the MRCP(UK) exam, you should complete the Core Medical Training competently. As such, there is no exit exam, however in your Specialist Registrar issues you may be required to demonstrate some further competencies in audit, teaching, research ethics and certain basic legal and ethical issues. Above all, you must enjoy your job, so this self-contained website also contains information on how you can enjoy yourself and have a life outside medicine!
